Artwork, Proof & Intellectual Property

This policy applies to artwork, logos, text, instructions, designs, photographs, and other content submitted to PackSales, as well as proofs, templates, dielines, and production materials prepared for an order.

Your rights and responsibilities

You retain ownership of the original artwork and content you submit. By submitting content, you represent that you own it or have all permissions, licenses, releases, and other rights needed for PackSales and its production providers to reproduce, modify for production, print, package, display for proofing, and otherwise use it to perform the requested services.

You are responsible for claims arising from content you were not authorized to use. PackSales does not independently verify copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, licensing, or other rights in customer-supplied content. PackSales may reject or stop work on content it reasonably believes is unauthorized, unlawful, misleading, harmful, or inconsistent with these terms.

Artwork preparation

Customers are responsible for supplying suitable artwork in the requested format, resolution, dimensions, and color mode. Low-resolution, flattened, incomplete, incorrectly sized, or otherwise unsuitable files may reduce output quality. Design assistance and automated design tools help arrange customer-supplied materials but do not include legal clearance, proofreading, brand development, or a guarantee that every technical issue will be detected.

Concept previews and production proofs

Online design-tool previews, three-dimensional renders, and downloadable concept PDFs are approximations for planning and are not production approvals. PackSales prepares or confirms a separate production proof before manufacturing a new order.

You must carefully review every side and panel of the production proof. Approval confirms acceptance of spelling, grammar, punctuation, colors, image quality, size, orientation, panel placement, safe areas, folds, seams, QR codes, barcodes, and all other content shown. Production begins only after approval. PackSales is not responsible for an error that was present on an approved proof.

Color, material, and print tolerances

PackSales prints in CMYK. RGB, Pantone, spot, and HEX or web colors are converted to CMYK. Exact color matching is not guaranteed, and printed colors may differ from monitors, office printers, prior processes, samples, or separate production runs. Corrugated and paperboard materials and matte printing can affect color and detail. Order a sample when color or appearance is critical.

Printing, cutting, scoring, folding, and assembly involve normal production variation. Print placement may vary by approximately 1/8 inch, and artwork should not depend on exact alignment across folds, seams, edges, or separate panels. Minor variation within customary production tolerances is not a defect.

Functional content

Customers are responsible for testing QR codes, barcodes, links, coupon codes, regulatory text, warnings, ingredient or food labeling, instructions, and other functional or legally required content before approving the proof. PackSales does not warrant that customer-provided functional content complies with law or will scan, resolve, or perform as intended.

PackSales materials and production files

PackSales retains ownership of its storefront, design tools, templates, dielines, proofs, production layouts, manufacturing files, methods, and other proprietary materials. Providing a preview, proof, or downloadable template does not transfer ownership of PackSales production materials or grant a right to reproduce or commercially exploit them beyond preparing an order with PackSales.

Customers should keep their original artwork files. PackSales may retain artwork, proofs, and order details to support reorders, but is not responsible for storing, maintaining, converting, or returning files indefinitely.

Confidentiality and marketing use

PackSales treats customer artwork and project information as confidential business materials and uses them to prepare and fulfill the project. From time to time, PackSales may feature completed products, project photographs, packaging examples, or customer reviews in its website, portfolio, social media, or marketing. If you do not want a project featured, tell PackSales before production begins. Where a specific gallery or review program requires additional confirmed permission, PackSales will obtain that permission before publication.

Artwork and production concerns are governed by the [Refund, Cancellation & Quality Claims Policy](returns-policy.cfm). Report a suspected manufacturing or production error within seven days of delivery and retain the affected products and packaging while the claim is reviewed.
